2007 President's Message
Russ Hebblethwaite

Russ HebblethwaiteThe Enviro Vault is the most significant modification to the design of oilfield storage tanks in recent history. While the dual wall concept was important, it only addressed contamination from failed floors and walls; it did not address the even greater and more prevalent environmental danger of leaking piping and valves. Not only does the Enviro Vault address environmental concerns posed by leaking valves and piping, it also addresses the high service costs associated with spill clean up and frozen valves. More importantly, it addresses serious safety concerns for those working with the tanks.
Inside an Enviro Vault, all valves are located at ground level in a heated, contained area that the operator or trucker accesses from the outside. This negates the need while accessing valves to climb ladders, or having to enter attached shacks that pose the ever present danger of H2S.

While the Enviro Vault concept was initially introduced to address valve related concerns of the larger heavy oil tanks, huge inroads have been made over the past 5 years into equipping smaller tanks used for storage of produced oil, water tanks, and in separator package tanks. These applications employ safe, fuel efficient, and low emission catalytic heaters to provide heat for freeze proofing the fluids, while at the same time keeping the valves inside the vault from freezing.

The "Bolt In" Enviro Vault was introduced in 2003, perfect for retrofitting existing tanks with catalytic heat. These units come completely equipped with valve, heater, and certified electrical package while still providing some spill containment. They can be coated as well, making them perfect for internally coated tanks, as they require no hot work for installation. Simply remove the tank manway door and bolt the Enviro Vault assembly in its place.

New advantages for the Enviro Vault and its customers are always in development. Upcoming designs will feature the "Therminator" tm heat tracing system, as well as a complete mini-separator package for locations with small amounts of fluid production, with all components contained within the Enviro Vault.

By December 2006 there were nearly 11,000 Enviro Vaults in use throughout western Canada and into the US, with 2,638 sold that year alone.

No other tank offers the savings in servicing costs, personnel safety, and level of environmental stewardship that an Enviro Vault equipped tank does. We are proud to work with most of western Canada's premier tank manufacturers that install our product in their tanks.

"The Future Standard In Tank Design" was the motto I chose when I started Enviro Vault in 1996. We're not there yet, but with the recognition we are getting from engineering firms, tank manufacturers, and most importantly the end users, we are certainly making a huge impact now and look forward to continued growth going forward.
