Working With Government Regulators

Enviro Vault Ltd. is currently working with the Canadian National Research Council, the overseers of the National Fire Code of Canada, to review the placement of Enviro Vault equipped tanks in a diked areas.

Our position has been that Enviro Vault equipped tanks placed close to the dike, allow direct access to tank valves within the vault, thereby eliminating the need for added external piping, valves, and containment devices. Enviro Vault equipped tanks also eliminate the potentially dangerous practice of operators entering a confined space to access tank valves and sample taps.

Enviro Vault Ltd. continues to work vigorously with Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and Federal Government regulators to encourage them to consider the options Enviro Vault provides for environmental and personnel safety. If successful in our negotiations, producers may save thousands of dollars in lease set up by placing tanks closer to the dike wall.

Recently, the Alberta Energy and Utility Board (AEUB) stated in correspondence with Enviro Vault Ltd. that they have no requirements for minimum distance between a tank and the dike wall but that best judgement should be used by licensees to ensure spill containment.

The Federal Fire Code stipulates that the implementation of fire safety is the responsibility of provincial and territorial regulators. Our company is working to identify applicable regulations and provide regulators with information about the safety and security of Enviro Vault equipped systems as our system has a proven track record concerning these issues of personnel and environmental safety.
